Consumer Trends in Fashion Post Pandemic
Consumer Trends in Fashion - Post Pandemic
For years, the majority of consumers did not give a deep thought to their buying patterns in
terms of fashion. In the pre-pandemic world, fashion was much more volatile than it is today.
As the world went through a life threatening crisis together, what one would wear became
the least of its concerns. Today, it is journeying back to a new normal. The pandemic has left
an un-erasable imprint on people’s priorities. How people make fashion choices today has
changed drastically; from emphasis on sustainability to revenge buying, consumer
motivations are radically different.
Global lockdowns meant a complete pause for the fashion industry for a significant amount
of time. When restrictions started easing, the industry quickly adapted to the new world by
strengthening its E-commerce. This ease of doorstep deliveries and simple return/exchange
processes, has made people fearless and experimental. The sudden increase of social
media influencers during the lockdown is an example of this large experimental segment of
consumers. Plus, they are an influencing factor, for an even larger part of the population
who consume their content, and then make fashion choices.
The need for sustainability is
also becoming more widespread now, leading to a significant growth in the conscious
consumer.
Apart from this, I personally feel that it is more common to see people post pandemic have their own individual style, for the reason that, during the lockdown, they had the time to get to know themselves and discover more about it.
